    The Runnery was originally established in the small rural city of Greenville, Michigan in May of 1979.  The Greenville store was generated by Larry and Sue Taylor to provide running and walking shoes for not only the Greenville community but the surrounding areas of Montcalm, Kent and Ionia counties.  Larry had a vision to excel in a service that would help provide proper shoes for runners and exercise enthusiasts that was starting in America, also known as the age of the running boom.  Larry was a high school teacher and a cross country/track coach at Greenville High School and really wanted to get not only his athletes in proper shoes but the running community as a whole.

 

     As the Taylors were getting closer to retirement, their eldest son Scott and wife Toni decided to open a second store in the northwest Grand Rapids area of Comstock Park, Michigan.  The Comstock Park location opened their doors in April of 2007.  Upon retirement of Larry and Sue Taylor the store in Greenville closed its doors for a final time in April of 2008 with a little help from many friends and families of the community.  To all of our customers of those 28 years in the Greenville area we say; "Thank you all so much, we have truly been blessed."

     Since opening the Comstock Park store in April of 2007, we as well have been truly blessed to be a part of so many lives that have walked through the doors of our current location.  As in the past, we at The Runnery still to this day strive to give our best effort when it comes to servicing our customers.  Whether you are a seasoned runner or just starting to get off the couch for the first time in years, we will work with you to ask the right questions for all your needs.  We are locally owned and operated to this day, so customer service is a major concern for us. As we continue on with our 45th year of being in business we welcome you to stop in and check out a smaller but thorough local running store in the northwest Grand Rapids area.
